Advertise With UsNEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – Just a few crosswalks in downtown New Bern will shut all through a number of weeks as a part of a development undertaking.
The crosswalk enchancment undertaking will embrace crosswalks at Hancock Avenue and Pollock Avenue, Craven Avenue and Pollock Avenue, and Center Avenue and S. Entrance Avenue.
Hancock St. and Pollock St. would be the first intersection to shut, starting at present.
A brand new crosswalk might be put in solely on the east facet of the intersection.
Crews will take away the asphalt and excavate beneath the present sidewalks to allow them to set up new concrete bases.
They will even place new brick pavers on the crosswalk surfaces.
New Bern officers say the development on every intersection will take about two to a few weeks to finish.
The intersections will shut one by one.
All 4 crosswalks at Craven St. and Pollock St. might be getting an improve. That work will begin as soon as the Hancock St. and Pollock St. work is full.
The ultimate intersection to shut might be at Center St. and S. Entrance St. All 4 crosswalks might be changed. Work will begin as soon as the intersection at Hancock St. and Pollock St. reopens.
Any parking heaps close to the intersections will seemingly be reserved for gear that might be used through the undertaking.
Officers hope all intersections might be changed within the subsequent eight weeks.
The undertaking was really useful and is being funded by the Municipal Service District Advisory Committee.
