NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – A person has been charged with homicide in New Bern’s first murder of 2026.

This afternoon, 26-year-old DeQuante Berry was charged with first-degree homicide.

Round 1:30 a.m., police have been known as to a ShotSpotter alert round 28 Cramer Drive close to Carmer Road.

Officers say 31-year-old Lamark Simmons was discovered affected by a gunshot wound. He later died after being transported to CarolinaEast Medical Heart.

Earlier at the moment, 26-year-old Yashua Dyer was charged with accent after the very fact.

Each are being held within the Craven County Jail with out bond.
