As part of New Bern’s 250th Anniversary Celebration, the Yarn Bomb of the New Bern Bears will transform downtown and surrounding areas into a colorful outdoor gallery from July 2–16.

This fun community art project will feature New Bern’s beloved bears adorned with handmade scarves and cowls created by talented volunteers (many are anonymous). Each bear has its own unique personality and style, making every stop a delightful surprise.

We invite residents and visitors alike to join the fun! Take photos with as many yarn-bombed bears as you can find and share them on our Facebook page, New Bern Yarn Project. When you post your photos, tell us: Which bear is your favorite? What attracted you to that particular bear? Did a bear’s location, colors, theme, or story make it special to you?

Whether you’re a longtime resident or visiting New Bern for the first time, the Yarn Bomb of the New Bern Bears is a wonderful way to celebrate our community, creativity, history, and the spirit of being “Woven Together for 250 Years.” Grab your camera, explore the bears, and join the adventure!
